The Inclusive Tourism Workshop is in conjunction with AHICE (Australasian Hotel Industry Conference & Expo) will examine key inclusive tourism issues. Inclusive tourism is a major tourism market sector - new analysis estimated that the Inclusive Tourism market in Australia was worth up to $8.9 billion over the first three months of 2017. This highlights the expected growth of the sector as our population ages and more people experience some level of disability.
Laura Cavallo, Chief Exective, Destination Melbourne, will be discussing Melbourne’s visitability. Visitability focuses on improving the critical services at every point of the visitor journey in Melbourne and across Victoria – and led to the creation of Destination Melbourne’s Visitability Program.
Paul Albone, Manager Industry Support, State Government Victoria, will explain The Victorian Accessible Tourism Kit which is the first of its kind for the Victorian tourism industry and aims to raise awareness and support for the Victorian tourism industry to become more accessible and inclusive.
Bill Forrester, Founder of Travability, will be answering the question ‘What are the economic and social benefits of inclusive tourism?’ How can accommodation providers better meet the needs of the inclusive tourism market (people with disability, older people and families)?
