Melbourne CBD is getting a new park

Creating 1900 square metres of new public open space, the Market Street parkland development will be the first new urban park in the CBD since the 1980s.

The new park, designed by Oculus, is set to include large lawn areas, bluestone paths, benches and seating, space for public events and improved pedestrian access to public transport. The new park will also feature a wide variety of trees and water sensitive urban design to reduce stormwater runoff.

The project is expected to be completed in 2020, guided by the City of Melbourne's Open Space Strategy and Urban Forest Strategy.

The design is open for public consultation until 10 October 2018, at Melbourne City Council's website
