Beginning in February 2016 and staged over four years, Melbourne & Olympic Parks CEO Brian Morris said the latest and most sensational phase for patrons is about to be unveiled: "Loved for decades as ‘everyone’s arena’, this iconic venue has embarked on an exciting transformation as it enters a whole new era of entertainment. Not only are we celebrating its 30-year anniversary, but we’re future-proofing the arena for decades to come to ensure it remains the best venue for fans, competitors and performers in Australia."

Introducing an expanded loading dock will mean a faster turnaround of events and installing the largest rigging capacity in the country will allow the venue to keep up with the ever-increasing scale of exciting events as the touring market, sporting and entertainment industries, continues to evolve.
