Victoria attracts more Indian tourists

About 25 million Indians are estimated to have travelled abroad last year, and the number is growing in the double digits annually. Victoria is home to the largest Indian population in Australia and welcomes more students, professionals and visitors every year.

Over 160,000 Indians visited Victoria from April 2017 to June 2018, an increase of 21% from the previous corresponding period. Unsurprisingly, their spending has also increased by 35%, surpassing New Zealanders as the second biggest foreign spenders in the state in the year ended March 2018.

With Avalon Airport going international in December, the tourism industry in Victoria is looking at even bigger numbers of Indians flying in.
