Destination Melbourne, the city’s independent tourism organisation, is offering Melbourne’s tourism influencers and media a chance to improve their knowledge of the local tourism landscape at the ninth annual Melbourne Tourism Industry Exchange (MTIE), taking place on 6 September at Munich Brauhaus.
The only event of its kind focusing exclusively on Greater Melbourne and regional Victorian tourism product, more than 60 established and emerging visitor attractions, destinations and industry stakeholders will exhibit at MTIE.
“MTIE is the best way for media, concierges, accommodation providers – including Airbnb hosts – and visitor services staff to discover the latest news and trends from Melbourne’s leaders in tourism and the visitor economy,” Laura Cavallo, Chief Executive Destination Melbourne, said.
"In Melbourne’s competitive and lucrative visitor economy, any advantage you and your staff can gain could help secure return visitation and generate positive reviews.
“MTIE provides a casual atmosphere where front line staff can meet operators and gain knowledge they can then pass on to their customers, readers and Melbourne’s wider visitor market. This knowledge helps present you and your business as a trusted, reliable source of information and is highly-valued by visitors.”
This year, Destination Melbourne and Melbourne River Cruises are offering free river transfers from Federation Square to Munich Brauhaus, allowing more people than ever to experience MTIE 2016. The event is free to attend, however registration is essential.
MTIE is presented by Destination Melbourne in partnership with .melbourne, the city’s only geo domain provider. Entry is free of charge, however, spaces are limited and must be booked.
